Drum Corps International (DCI) is a nonprofit youth organization serving drum and bugle corps around the globe. Many people don't know how to explain what a drum corps really is. It is sort of like a marching band but it's much better. A drum corps consists of fourteen to twenty two year olds who rehearse and perform an eleven minute show for the whole summer. The differences between a drum and bugle corps and a marching band is that in a marching band they have woodwinds such as flutes, clarinets, saxophones and so on but in a drum corps there are only brass instruments and percussion. There are three different divisions that the corps are spread up into. The corps are divided based on how many members are in the corps. The first division is the largest corps and consists of about 135 members. The second division is consists of 80 to 130 members. The third division is the smallest and has 30 to 70 members. The corps that have 70 to 80 members have a choice to be in second or third division.
